Kaelyn's First Trip

About a month ago, we decided it was time to test the waters of traveling with a baby. We have a couple of trips to Los Angeles coming up in the summer, so we thought a trip to San Luis Obispo was ideal for a trial run -- besides being the home of our Alma mater, it's halfway down the coast to LA so it could give us a decent gauge for how the later drives this summer will be.

We planned to head down in the morning and get there by noon, but on baby-schedule that quickly translated to finally-packed-and-out-of-the-house by noon and arrival around 3:30 instead. By the time we were on the road, we were seriously testing the capacity limits of my little commuter sedan with a trunk and seat-loads of baby stuff... for a one night trip! We questioned ourselves more than once if all of the work was worth it, but once we got there and were revisiting our favorite college spots with little K in tow, it was clear that the trip was something we'd needed.

For the most part, K was a most excellent little traveler.

First stop, Splash Cafe for some chowder and other goodies...

A walk around downtown...

...and the next day, a short drive to Montana de Oro State Park.

Where's baby?

There she is!
